A Brief View on Hierarchy
Hierarchy celebrates the power and glory of men, while also honouring the fundamental truth that men are not created equal.
Aristotle was right when he said, “Give me a child until he is seven, and I will show you the man.” Children are born with innate characteristics which are honed and developed as they mature. Central to these characteristics are leadership and “followship”—the core fundamentals of the concept of hierarchy. Neither is right nor wrong; they are merely an inalienable truth. In the context of hierarchy, we call these different roles Alpha and Beta.
Expectations of Others
Modern society and the expectations of others have had the effect of rendering unpopular—and indeed controversial—the acknowledgement that Alphas and Betas exist as distinct members of a hierarchy. Each alike has a valuable contribution to make to the world. Their contributions are different, their lives are different, and their struggles are different, but they exist together. Neither role is more valuable than the other; in fact, it is useful to consider them as two sides of the same coin. A leader can only lead if he has his followers; similarly, a follower can only truly achieve if he is led. An Alpha can only be his true self when a Beta surrenders to his control.
Deep Truth
To acknowledge the hierarchy of men is to acknowledge the truth deep within each of us. This truth transcends age, race, and social class; it is fundamental to who we each are. Our truth is created at our birth and shaped by our experiences and the expectations placed upon us. Some may struggle with their identity, but few really doubt its truth.
To believe in the hierarchy and find fulfilment is to look deep within and find your truth. Acknowledging that truth and learning to embrace it can be a difficult journey. Few truly understand the power of living authentically. Executive Sir exists to support your journey of self-discovery and help you see the beauty within each role within the hierarchy.
